It is with great regret that due to the current ice conditions combined with the long term forecast for the next 10 days and beyond we have no choice but to cancel the 2012 Midwest Open. There has been a lot of thought in this process and we feel rather than try one more time to get the Midwest Open in it was better for everyone that we cancel the 2012 event.
The 2013 Midwest Open will take Place on January 26th and 27th of 2013. The tournament lake will remain on Devils Lake. The fishermen will be fishing for $16,000.00 to win in 2013.
The 150 teams that were entered as of February 3rd, 2012 for the 2012 Midwest Open are the teams that will make up the 2013 Midwest Open. We will refund in full any team that would like to get out the 2013 Midwest Open at any time. When and if you need to make changes please call 517-592-2786 Monday-Friday between 9 am and 5 pm and ask for Shelly. Also those teams who need to make partner changes or have already made partner changes need to remember that once a partner change is made only that partner can be changed again. If you try to make a change to the one original partner it will automatically forfeit your team’s entry.
As of February 3, 2012 we have 13 remaining unpaid alternates from the 2012 Midwest Open. Those teams will be contacted and asked to pay their entry fee in full to continue to remain as alternates. They will have 10 days to do so. On March 15th, 2012 we will post the most current list of entries. At that time if we have any unfilled vacancies we will take entries to fill any vacancies and alternate positions available. We will take entries for a period of 2 weeks. At the end of 2 weeks we will randomly draw teams from those entries to fill the remaining positions for the 2013 Midwest Open. You will be able to enter either by the Phone, in person at Knutson’s or online at the Midwest Open Tournament website.
Because of all these changes the implementation of the new entry process for the 2013 Midwest Open will now not take effect until the 2014 Midwest Open.
We again are sorry for all of these changes but they are out of our hands. As you know we want to put on the best Tournament in the country and in order to do so we will not be compromised into putting on a subpar event just to say we got the event in.
Please have a safe year and if you happen to travel to find ice or have ice where you are at be safe as we want to see you next January 26th and 27th, 2013.
Thank You
Tom Knutson
